Gypsum pinks

Description

Zeltnera maryanniana. This flower grows on gypsum soils in southeast New Mexico. In spring after a wet winter, they can turn the landscape magenta.

The gray color in the foreground soil is gypsum - this thin soil is formed on top of a gypsum deposit.
