Little bluestem in winter color

This native grass is blue only in spring. In fall, it turns this dark reddish-orange; that color stays throughout the winter. Schizachyrium scoparium.

This native grass is widespread in North America.

The similar Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii) is also this color in fall and winter.
