Tent rocks, mesas, and snow-capped mouintains

Description

Tent rocks are formed from volcanic tuff; erosion via crisscross fissures produces the conical shape; most are protected from total erosion by capstones of hard igneous rock. In the midground are mesas of the Pajarito Plateau, also formed from volcanic tuff. In the background are the snow-capped Truchas Peaks of the Sangre de Christo range.
