Pinyon pine snag

This pinyon - and every other one in the vicinity - died after several years of drought opened it to bark-beetle attack.

I believe it is the largest pinyon I have seen in the southwest. Fortunately, many young pinyon seedlings are growing in this area; so the dead trees will be replaced.
