Cliffbush in flower

Description

Jamesia americana. White flowers with five petals, saucer-shaped, are tightly clustered at the ends of branches. The leaves have deeply recessed veins, producing a crinkly surface. Two pairs of opposite leaves grow close on the stem, looking like four leaves in a cross pattern. Found in the ponderosa pine and mixed-conifer zones of the southern Rockies and west into California.
