Rain lilies

Description

Two blooming rain lilies, small and yellow

Rain lilies (Zephyranthes longifolia) appear in the Chihuahuan Desert just as soon as the summer monsoons start. They are only 4-in to 6-in tall. They bloom for a week or two, then form a seed capsule that quickly fall off; then the lily disappears as a scarcely-visible grass-like leaf.
