Arch-supported bridge

This arch bridge supports the roadway above by transferring the weight to an arch, which carries the weight down to the anchored ends. It is known in the scientific community of Los Alamos, NM, as the "Omega Bridge," because the arch resembles the top of the upper-case Greek omega.
