Managed fire

Description

A managed fire is between a wildfire and a prescribed fire. This managed fire was ignited by nature, but is burning slowly on the ground, is in little danger of spreading, and is achieving land management objectives. A fire crew is at the fire and will monitor it and take action if necessary. As can be seen by the cloudy skies, the ground fuels had been rained on and were fairly moist. The fire never left the ground to burn in the tree canopies, which is when fires become really dangerous. The fire actually burned itself out before it burned all the back slope of this little mountain. Jemez Mountains, NM
