Gate to a church

The Church of St. Francis in Golden, NM, has undergone numerous remodels. The most recent addition is a surrounding wall with this gate. It maintains the typical adobe curved shape typical of NM churches, and has a niche with an icon of St. Francis. [Actually block and stucco, I think.]

The sun depiction in wrought metal evokes the NM weather and the sun symbol of NM, the Zia. Visible through the gate is typical NM landscape, including the Ortiz Mountains in the background.
