Description
Aspen trees - closely related to cottonwood and willow trees - flower as cottony catkins. It is rare to see aspens in bloom - they mostly reproduce by root sprouts. This tree is covered with silver/white catkins. As is the case with most plants that are wind-pollinated, they bloom before the leaves come out.
